Practice, practice, practice

I shuddered once again this morning when I heard my eldest strum the guitar and state, “I’m just no good!”  Though we have tried to instill the belief that perfection will not come instantaneously for X, Y or Z, our efforts have not worked quite yet.  On the other hand, our youngest is blessed with a willingness to try just about any new activity.  Self-assured, she lacks the inhibitions that have descended on her older brother.  Eventually, we hope, this stage will pass.  Until then, what do YOU do in order to reassure, but push just enough so that the journey is worth the rewards?
