Beyond Words

I have no qualms about telling my children that what they are achieving simply by being plopped in the middle of Asia for a year is 100 times more challenging than anything Mom or Dad ever did at their age.  To muddle along and try to make friends when you don’t speak the same language has been comical, depressing, enlightening and just plain hard at times for both of them.  We have encouraged them to focus on games here with their friends that don’t require speaking….cave-making, soccer, jumping rope, coloring.  What other children’s games transcend language in your daily lives?
